Guerrilla Trekking is newly opened trekking package in Nepal. Guerrilla Trekkingis a very political itinerary for a Himalayan trek. There are former combat zones and valleys that were a liberated Maoist zone only a decade ago. The new route of Guerrilla Trekwill take walkers on a three week trip through the heartland of Nepal's ten year long civil war. The Guerrilla Trek was recently launched including the release of a Guerrilla Trekking Guide book by Alonzo Lyons and trekking map as well.

The Guerrilla Trek in Nepal is obviously an extraordinary journey in the western and mid-western part of Nepal, which were the origin of Maoist Civil War in Nepal. Over 16000 people lost their lives during this insurgency. It was on the trails of The Guerrilla Trek that the revolution was planned, kindled and launched which eventually abolishing the 239 year old monarchy in Nepal and was able to establish Democratic Federal Republic system in the country.

The Guerrilla Trek begins with the Beni of Myagdidistrict to Rukum which was followed by the Maoists during the insurgency. During this trek, we can retrace the footsteps of the guerrillas and imagine what it must have been like hike the fight in this kind of terrain. Guerrilla Trekkingfollows through Beni and then through Baglung through farmsterraces and several traditional villages. The Guerrilla trek route passes through thes dramatic lakes, waterfalls and the only hunting reserve in Nepal, DhorpatanHuting Reserve. We can see the stunning views from Jalja La Pass (3414m). Detailed Itinerary

Day 01: Arrival in Kathmandu and check-in to Hotel
The representatives from Adventure Mountain Guide Team will welcome you at Tribhuvan International Airport upon your arrival. We then transfer you to the hotel for the overnight stay.

Day 02: Full Day Sightseeing Tour of Kathmandu Valley and Pre-trip Preparation
Today, we spend the whole for the sightseeing tour of Kathmandu Valley. You will have the full day guided sightseeing of Kathmandu Valley covering the major cultural attractions which have also been cited as The World Heritage Cultural Sites. After having breakfast in the morning, we visit Pashupatinath, which is considered the holiest temple of Lord Shiva.  We then head to Bauddhanath, which is also known as Little Tibet and also is one of the oldest and largest Buddhist Monastery in the world. Following the Bauddhanath Monastery, we visit Swayambhunath, the Monkey Temple, which is equally revered by Hindus and Buddhists.   Swayambhunath is an ancient religious complex atop a hill in the west of Kathmandu. After exploring the Swayambhunath Stupa, we drive to Kathmandu (Basantpur) Durbar Square. If time allows, you can explore the city. Finally, you will have dinner at hotel and stay there overnight.

Day 03: Drive from Kathmandu to Beni (830m) – 8 Hours
Today, we drive to Beni from Kathmandu. It takes about eight hours to reach there. We pass through the mountains along the banks of Trishuli and Marshyangdi River to Pokhara. We drive further from Pokhara deeper into the mountains with the magnificent views of Annapurna ranges. We stay overnight at local lodge at Beni.

Day 04: Trek from Beni to Takam (1665m) – 6 Hours
From Beni, we follow a gravel road to Darbang which is about 24 kilometers. We eventually reach at Takam which is just three hours walk away with towering GurjalHimal. We stay overnight at tented accommodation.

Day 05: Trek from Takam to Lamsung (2250m) – 6 Hours
Enjoying the dramatic scenery on the way, we trek further from Takam to Lamsung. People of this place are not used to the foreigners and they have a lot of stories to tell about the insurgency in Nepal. We stay overnight at tented accommodation.

Day 06: Trek from Lamsung to Gurjaghat (3020m) – 7 hours
Today, we climb through dense pine forest with musk deer darting in the undergrowth. We can enjoy the great view of Dhaulagiri range up to ChurenHimal in the west. We stay overnight at tented accommodation.

Day 07: Trek from Gurjaghat to Dhorpatan (2860m) – 5 Hours
Today, we cross over from Myagdi to Baglung and then into the former Tibetan Refugee camp. This is also the entrance to Dhorpatan, which is only Hunting Reserve. We stay overnight at tented accommodation.

Day 08: Trek from Dhorpatan to Nisi Dhor – 5 Hours
Dhorpatan is known as a paradise for birds. We can get to watch Danphes and other rare migratory species.It's very hard to imagine that people fought a war here. We stay overnight at tented accommodation.

Day 09: Trek from Nisi Dhor to Tallo Sera – 7 Hours
We cross over from Baglung to Rukum today. We can witness the dense forests all the way. All the villages are quite picturesque. We stay overnight at tented accommodation.

Day 10: Trek from Tallo Sera to Rujhikhola – 6 Hours
From Tallo Sera, we walk to Lukum in Rukum. Lukum is a village populated only by Magars and Dalits. We stay overnight at tented accommodation.

Day 11: Trek from Rujhikhola to Thabang (1975m) – 5 Hours
From Rujhikhola, we trek to Thabang today. Well, Thabang is known as the cradle of Maoist revolution and it was damaged in army attacks. But there has been some development of infrastructure after the war ended. We stay overnight at tented accommodation.

Day 12: Trek from Thabang to Jalja La (3414m) – 5 Hours
From Thabang, we ascend to Jalja La Pass and the highest point in Jalja La is Dharampani (3900m). From Dharampani, we can witness the great views of ApiSaipal in the west and Dhaulagiri at the east. We stay overnight at tented accommodation.

Day 13: Trek from Jalja La to Jelbang – 6 Hours
From Jalja La, we move down to the village of Jelbang which is ethnically mixed. We stay overnight at tented accommodation.

Day 14: Trek from Jelbang to Suliochaur – 6 Hours
We finally get to Rolpatoday.Rolpa was also a rebel base area and for many of ten years of insurgency under total control of Maoists. We stay overnight at local guesthouse in Suliochaur.

Day 15: Drive from Suliochaur to Kathmandu – 13 Hours
Today, we are returning back to Kathmandu from Suliochaur. It takes about 13 hours via bus to reach Kathmandu. We stay overnight at tented accommodation.

Day 16: Final Departure
Today, you take the returning flight to your hometown. Our representatives will assist you to reach the airport. You return to your home with an unforgettable travel experience in Nepal.
